What is a Sound Healing ?
Sound healing is the intentional use of sound, vibration, music, and the human voice to support relaxation, restoration, and overall well-being.
With instruments like crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes, drums, and tuning forks, sound is not only heard, but also felt throughout multiple layers of the body.
Individual frequencies and harmonic overtones may be felt as vibration throughout the skin, musles, connective tissue, and fascia.
Chords, musical intervals, rhythm, melody, and silence engage the mind, emotions, breath, and nervous system.
At r e s t: Resonant Earth Sound Therapy, I work with all of these layers simultaneously because healing is about more than a single frequency—it is about restoring harmony. Just as nature thrives through balance, the body and mind respond to experiences that encourage coherence, flow, and resonance. Through the vibration of an instrument, the movement of music, and the presence of compassion and intention, sound offers a gentle invitation to soften what feels tight, reconnect with your natural rhythm, and remember and reattune to your natural state of being.

What is a Sound Bath?
Sound baths are a method of experiencing sound healing through a curated sonic journey to the Theta brainwave state— our brain’s location for rest, relaxation, meditation, emotional processing, and cellular restoration. It is also common to travel to the Delta brainwave state during a sound bath which is where we fall asleep.
Quartz crystal singing bowls are often the main feature of a sound bath because they mirror the crystalline structure in bones, tissues, organs, all the way down into human DNA. Through the Principle of Resonance (also called “destructive resonance”), we can clear emotional blockages and tension in our body restoring energetic flow in the body. (This is the same science used in Ultrasound technology to explode kidney stones).
Sound baths typically include other instruments like gongs, chimes, flutes, etc. to support certain intentions and experience various states of awareness throughout the sound bath journey.
Tips to Have the Best Sound Bath Experience
-

HYDRATE
Our bodies are 70-90% water! Water conducts the flow of vibration, so please drink water before and after your sound bath to support circulation.
Stop drinking 1-2 hours before the sound bath starts to reduce the need to use the restroom during the sound bath.
-

STRETCH
Tight muscles and fascia will relax with more ease during the sound bath if you stretch beforehand and increase the energetic flow throughout your body.
Stretching also brings awareness to your breath and signals to your nervous system that it's safe to slow down.
-

CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN
Sound baths are contradindicated for people with pacemakers, low blood pressure, metal devices in the body, epilepsy/seizures, and people in their first trimester of pregnancy. Consult your physician before attending a sound bath if you have medical concerns.
-

POST-SOUND BATH CARE
It’s normal to feel more emotional, tingling, and numbness for 1-2 days after a sound bath. Continue to hydrate and these feelings should subside. Earthing, walking in nature, journaling, epsom salt baths, and drinking warm water or herbal teas are preferred practices after a sound bath to integrate the experience and feel more embodied.
